Standing atop a hilltop, the fort was constructed in 1612 and was the most prized and crucial fort to the Portuguese. It was named Aguada that means water in Portuguese. The presence of three freshwater springs inside justify this name. This fort was constructed in the year 1612. A 4 storey Portuguese lighthouse stands inside, which is the oldest of its kind in Asia.
